Brief About Gondia Education Society (GES)

Gondia Education Society is a well known and largest education society in vidarbha region of Maharashtra, serving quality education. The Society was established on 8th December 1958. The Society was formed by Late Shri Manoharbhai Patel to improve the level of education especially in the region of Bhandara and Gondia district of Maharashtra. It’s head office is located at Gondia.

The society is rapidly growing under the able guidance & leadership of Smt. Varsha Tai Patel, the president Of Gondia Education Society. It is registered under Society’s Act & Bombay Public Trust Act. – F. 47 (registration No. B/95/1958). Gondia education society is the biggest education society under the jurisdiction of the RTM Nagpur university & Maharashtra state.

Aims and Objectives of the Society

  • Establishing Colleges for higher education.
  • Establishing Industrial and Technical Instruction for Vocational Training.
  • Publishing Books and Magazines.
  • Running Hostels for students taking education in the Institution run by the Society.

Historical Background

History throws up many a great event in the political, social, religious, economic, industrial and educational fields and every event gives birth to a leader and an endearing personality. The advent of Manoharbhai Patel Institute of Engineering & Technology, popularly known in India as MIET of Gondia, has been a memorable event and that too as a crowning glory in a chain of great events in the district of Bhandara going back to the era of freedom struggle in Indian history.

In 1945, Bhandara district had a literacy rate of just 6% with only one Government public school in the whole district. Late Shri Manoharbhai Patel, a wealthy businessman and philanthropist, led the initiative to establish the second school in Gondia town. This was the beginning of Gondia Education Society.

By 1961, Gondia Education Society had established 22 high schools across the district and two more colleges. The literacy rate in Bhandara district rose to 14% as a result of these efforts.

Aims & Objectives of GES Institutions

SERVICE: To instill in the students the spirit of service in all walks of life and make them responsible citizens of the future.

STRENGTH: To make the students capable of facing challenges in life efficiently and carve their own future.

CHARACTER: To provide a balanced and life oriented educational programmes by incorporating progressive techniques, learning theories, and methodologies.
