Our Inspiration – Late Shri. Manoharbhai Patel

It all started in the late fifties ,as the great visionary Late Shri Manoharbhai Patel envisioned a dream . His dream was to establish ,’’Temple of learning’’ with the sole aim of providing Quality Education to resident in and around this backward . non- descript region of Vidarbha. Thus was born ,Gondia Education Society.

Today under the dynamic leadership of Smt. Varsha Patel , this society has taken education to the masses and has a widespread network of umpteen number of schools and colleges & providing education in virtually all disciplines; be it Arts, Commerce, Science, Education, Law, Management, Pharmacy, Engineering or Architecture.

His keen and sincere desire to serve the society moved him to create the avenues of education for all, So that every one may improves his own life.

He was Visionary whose dream has been realized. Shri. Narendra Tidke College of Arts & Commerce Ramtek is a result of the inspiration provided by his zest for the spread of education.

Late Shri Manoharbhai Patel was closed associated with leaders like Smt. Indira gandhi, Shri. Morarji desai, Shri. Yashwantrao Chauhan and Shri. Babubhai Patel. A true Gandhhin at heart Shri. Manohar bhai Patel always wore khadi and remain a viry committed member of congress parti as also a very active member of All India congress Committee, President of Vidharbha Region congress Committee and tresurer of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Commottee. Shri. Manohar bhai Patel become president of the Gondia Municipal council in 1946 and continue to be its president till 1970. He also become member of first legislative Assembly in 1952 in the erstwhile state of C. P. & Berar and thwen after recognisation of the state in 1960 in the assembly of Maharashtra also.  in tribute to his commitment and contribution towards various development projects the government of Maharashtra  named one of the major irrigation project of the Vidharbha region in Maharashtra as Manohar Sagar (Shirpur  on the border Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh)

“Though a very successful industrialist, his contribution for the cause of the downtrodden, the freedom movement agriculture, education and employment were the hallmarks of a great career which will always be remembered” Thus said late shri. V. P. Naik the then Chief Minister of Maharshtra at the commencesment of the last journey of shri. Manoharbhai patel on 17th August, 1970 when he was accorded a state Funeral
